BEHIND THE BUSINESS

MEET MEAGHAN

Fueled by empathy, creativity, deep rooted connections and serving others.

I was a budding prop stylist long before I knew it was even a thing. I’d like to think of younger me as a connoisseur of styling Barbie’s home and that I was ahead of my time when I created vignettes and still life setups on the top of my childhood dresser.

Creativity runs deep through my bones and styling makes me feel free. I love the entire process. Oftentimes, I can walk into a room or styling situation and immediately see the final setup in my brain.

I believe in connection. I believe in serving others. I believe in creating visual scenes that evoke feelings, memories and experiences. I believe in providing a service that blends all of these together.

BEHIND THE BRAND

“Having been drawn to birch trees since I was young, I feel a connection to the layers of bark. The deeper you go, the more beauty you find.”

Birch trees symbolize new beginnings. This business and brand are my new beginning. Through styling, each time I work with a client I am part of a new beginning with them.

FAQ.

  • You know all those images you see in magazines, catalogs? The ones that make you say, “wow, I want to be in that space” or “I want to wear that jewelry” or “I want my table to be set like that.” Those images are the handiwork of prop stylists.

    According to Webster’s Dictionary…

    I’m just kidding.

The role of a prop stylist is to arrange the items you see in a photo in such a way that they not only tell a story but also enhance whatever the shoot is about.

  • Just as you are the master of your craft, your brand, your product, I am of mine. The amount of time it takes to plan out photoshoots, prop source, make adjustments and create dynamic setups that are on-brand is a lot. That is precious time that you could have to work on the areas of your business that only you can do. Investing in a prop stylist provides the opportunity to better connect your business to its ideal client.

  • I am a multi-focused stylist. I like to think of myself as having a chameleon-like approach to styling. Meaning I can produce work for a multitude of aesthetics. Ranging from wedding stationery flat lays that are refined and elegant to a brand that is minimal and nature inspired to a set design that is moody and eclectic.

  • I am not.

While I have an understanding of lighting, composition and work precisely to build the shot, I am not a photographer. I work closely with photographers to make sure what I style translates through their lens. If a client does not already have a hired photographer or one in mind I will help to find one who will be the best fit for the project. Things I consider when looking for a photographer are their editing style and if they are well-versed in product, editorial and commercial photography.

  • You certainly could. Some photographers take on both styling and photography. However, in order for the photographer to be able to give their full attention to their craft and produce the best images for you, it is beneficial to have a prop stylist to work in unison with the photographer.

  • Yes. Some clients already have existing materials that they want to include in their styling, but for the most part I use props that I have in my collection as well as source and shop around for the perfect props to enhance the setup. I have experience in painting certain styles of backdrops and styling mats and love the challenge of finding THE perfect addition to the set.

  • Some clients have specific venues or locations that have already been determined for the shoot. If that is not the case, I will scout locations and photo studios that will be the best fit for the client.

  • The length of a shoot depends on what is being styled and photographed. Shoots can range anywhere from 2 hours to multiple days.

  • Absolutely. My bags are basically packed.

  • Yes! This is actually one of my favorite parts of the process. I will work closely with you to gain a better understanding of your brand, product and needs in order to create stunning imagery that aligns with your business, goals and clients.

  • Is that even a question? Name the time and taco spot and I'll be there.
